Mother’s Day Ideas to Spoil your Mom

Spoil mom this Mother’s Day and make it extra special.

With Mother’s Day coming up soon I’d like to share some more ideas for gifts this year. There are plenty of things to do and gifts to treat your mum or mother in-law with and being in Western Cape your options are wide open.

V&A Waterfront

This is such a nice shopping mall featuring a variety of over 450 retail stores which is simply a treat for all your shopping therapy needs. Selected stores are having special giveaways and deals especially for this day so hurry on and plan the day of treats and more for your mother.

Day Trips

Plan the day and make it even extra special with a wonderful day trip. These usually start at one point and include sightseeing, with some trips featuring a breakfast, brunch or snacks as part of the package. Ashanti offers something for outdoor adrenaline seekers, whether you’re a young mom looking for something different to the traditional gifts or simply want to enjoy a faster pace this year on your special day, they have something for you.

Your mother can enjoy wine tasting, horseback riding, whale watching and lots more with Ilios Travel day tours Cape Town. African Eagle lets you enjoy both full and half day tours in the Mother City or elsewhere in SA, contact them for package details.

Pamper her

Who can say no to an opportunity to relax and unwind? Western Cape and SA as a whole is blessed with many health spas and you can really spoil yourself (if you’re a mum) and your mother with a spa package deal. Choose from a wide selection and simply relax and rejuvenate. Being a mother is a constant task so taking the time to relax is very important whether you’re a full-time mom or spoiling a mom.

Other great spoils include but are not limited to:

  • Hair treatments
  • Music festivals
  • Concerts
  • Theatre
  • Helicopter rides
  • Basket of treats and flowers
  • Sundowners

If you happen to be elsewhere for Mother’s Day South Africa, you can still spoil your mum because there are many places to visit all over in the beautiful SA. If you’re only staying for a short while you could opt for a day tour to cover as many sightseeing as possible for that day.

Safe travels and peace to all!

Cape Town is a beautiful city and one all Capetonians can truly be proud of. As mentioned in a previous blog, we know that Cape Town and the Western Cape as a whole has many wonderful areas to settle in and call home. If you’re looking to relocate or simply purchase an investment or your holiday home away from home, then the Western Cape, Cape Town is a good place to invest.

In this post I’ll focus on the City Bowl of Cape Town. It is located in very close proximity to the heart of the central business and has about 16 suburbs that makes it up as a whole.

Bo Kaap (aka The Malay Quarter)

This area of Cape Town is popular, and to date is still pre-dominantly Muslim residents. The area was originally separated from the rest of the areas as a Township in the years of racial segregation and was called the Malay Quater. It is located on the slopes of Signal Hill and overlooks the CBD. The homes here are famous for their colourful paint scheme throughout the area as well as beautiful cobble streets. The Nurul Islam Mosque is also located in the area and was established in 1844. Bo Kaap also features its museum, which dates back to the 1760s, which showcases all the contributions made by muslim settlers in earlier years as well as various aspects that express Bo Kaap’s history within South Africa Cape Town.

De Waterkant

De Waterkant has become an uber trendy and much sought after area in the City Bowl; its location is close to Green Point but virtually forms part of Green Point and lies adjacent to the CBD. It is also a popular residential area among the gay and lesbian community and features a variety of upmarket properties, retail shops and restaurants.

Foreshore

The Foreshore suburb is a very exclusive area in the City Centre. It lies adjacent to the popular V&A Waterfront and features exclusive apartment living. Access to the V&A shopping centre is a mere walk away and transport from Foreshore to the Central Business District is easy with plenty taxis and buses moving to and fro. The area also features historical statues of South African soldiers who lost their lives in ww1 and 2 as well as statues of Portuguese and Dutch explorers Bartolomeu Diaz and Jan Van Riebeeck and his wife Maria.

Gardens

Gardens is situated on the foot of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head Mountain right between Tamboerskloof and Oranjazicht and within very close proximity to the City Bowl. It is one of Cape Town’s oldest established suburbs and features beautiful and charming houses and apartment blocks. Residents are spoilt for choice with an array of chic boutique shops, department stores and restaurants.

Tamboerskloof

The suburb of Tamboerskloof is located on the slopes of Signal Hill and Lion’s Head. It features a mix of art-deco and Victorian style homes and is also one of the Mother City’s oldest suburbs. It’s neibouring areas include Bo-Kaap and Gardens. This suburb is perfect for an exclusive up-market family lifestyle.

Granger Bay

Granger Bay is yet another trendy suburb closely located to the CBD and right next to the V&A Waterfront. It features exclusive properties with envious views of Table bay and Robben Island.

Other areas within the City Bowl Suburbs also include Woodstock, Zonnebloem, Vredehoek and Roggebaai. There are plenty of schools accessible with many of them located on the Atlantic Seaboard. Eateries, shopping facilities, day spas and hair salons are within easy access to this exciting, lively area of the Western Cape.

Price Tag

Properties in and surrounding the Cape Town City Bowl can range between an estimate of 3 million to 30 million.

If you’re looking for an upmarket lifestyle and you’re a thriving professional looking to mix with other professionals amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy CBD, then the City Bowl and surrounds is perfect for you.
